When one partner suffers a stroke; life is turned upside down, but when you have both partners who have been struck with a serious illness; it can be a devastating blow I was the first one at 47 years of age to suffer with what doctors call a series of thunderclap migraines which resulted in a bleed on the right side of my brain a Cerebral Hemorrhage). After a long series of tests, MRI's, and CT scans, the doctors referred to my "stroke" as "Call Fleming Syndrome"; The date was November 19, 2011. I will never forget that day. Then on July 29, 2014 Phil at 53 was struck down with a massive stroke which resulted in a bleed in the (Basal Ganglia) this was a day that dampened what was the beginning of a joyous summer ;( we had two sons marry Nick in June and Cory in July) This blog voices Phil's experiences on learning to live and walk again. We hope to share our story , experiences, frustrations, and how we have had to struggle, but at the same time still find joy in being together and being alive will help others not only find hope but better understand what a stroke is and steps to take to help avoid one. Each day we find new reasons to get up and do it all again.

THE BLOODY NERVE.

...............And here we go , this morning's most prominent feeling it would seem is Pissed off , who the hell does this stroke think it is?? .  I am due to have my shower , and that is no longer a thing I can do on my own , I sit in a shower chair , and any type of seating change causes the painful muscle spasms that reduce me to tears .

HOW DAREthis damned ghostly pain that seems to confuse the doctors so much , HOW DARE IT rob me of the pleasure of waking up and stretching , of a relaxing shower. I never was a big shower guy ...my sons could milk a shower for 20 minutes , it was like a rain forest in that bathroom ,;me , a few minutes to shower , shave etc., I just hate the idea that it's been taken from me by this unwelcome intruder , I am pissed at the bloody nerve of this unidentifiable pain and the massive amounts of sensation that seem to accompany it, for it's ability to make me afraid to shower, to live MYway ,.

At the prompting of my beautiful wife after watching several news programs on the subject , I explored marijuana as a form of treatment, and for me it worked perfectly , immediately and completely, the next step was to move away from the problematic aspect of it , the legal one . to be able to get this amazing treatment legally , and not put friends and loved ones in the path of prosecution.

My doctor was understanding and compassionate and signed the form but we are now jumping through a myriad of hoops trying to make this happen and it is difficult , there are a thousand corners to turn , each one requiring a new form to be filled out , id pictures that need to be taken, all of which is costing me money, there are no dispensaries here so it's either order online or go to vapour , which I am unfamiliar with, but so far this is the only course of treatment that has been effective , I WILL continue to pursue it and so my fellow survivors I find myself in need of info on the vapour thing, let me know please , I'm easy to find , just look in Strokeland...Phil
